Position Title	Intern - Housing, Social Services & Dearness Home
Summary of Duties	Explore mechanism to reduce and eliminate barriers experienced by newcomers in accessing employment and employment-related services in the London community. Undertake a review of immigrant employment best practices, research, local reports etc. Facilitate community discussions through engaging broader community stakeholders to support development of an action plan.
Qualifications	Minimum of Post Secondary education in a related subject area (Social Services) Knowledge of the London community and of its immigrant population Understanding of employment and employment-related issues and broader workforce strategies Understanding of all issues, including employment related ones, faced by immigrants ( ], v& B) Q. r1 k5 u( sSkills: " W4 o. e. E3 @, ~/ Q; T# k Project Management skills Stakeholder engagement Needs assessment and priority setting Report writing Political acumen Communication and interpersonal skills Ability to speak/communication in other languages would be an asset Proficiency in Microsoft Word * Y4 E8 h0 C) q* F' r$ ]! M0 ]Eligibility under the City of London Internship Program as follows (see below): MUST MEET CRITERIA AS EITHER A NEW IMMIGRANT OR PERSON WITH SELF-DECLARED DISABILITY WHICH POSES EMPLOYMENT BARRIERS OR RECENT LOCAL POST  SECONDARY GRADUATE. 9 x- H1 B* v% F6 _) g. ]0 }  X New immigrant: New to Canada within the past 3years, and Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education institute with Canadian equivalency, and English benchmark level 6 or above, and Legally entitled to work in Canada. OR $ K5 u! t6 ?' c, P: |( UPerson with self-declared disability which poses employmentbarriers: / s- T) ~) a  K; a9 @( ] Limited work experience in their chosen field, and Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education institute OR Recent local post-secondary graduate: & ~1 c/ W8 \8 V! t$ d London resident who has graduated from a recognized post-secondary education institute within the past year and has limited work experience in their chosen field, OR Graduate of a London area recognized post-secondary education institute within the past year, but not currently living in London Limited work experience in their chosen field.
Compensation Range	$14.67 per hour
Other Information	Term is for Fall 2014
