TVDSB will decide Tuesday morning if schools will reopen

Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 – A decision to close schools or keep them open across the Thames Valley school district will be made early Tuesday morning, says Education Director Bill Tucker.

2 C+ x) b7 c3 kThames Valley District School Board officials have been monitoring the intense winter storm that has pounded parts of southwestern Ontario throughout the day.

5 t/ A8 i7 M0 z: v1 J7 H“We have been advised by the Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Service that bus operators feel it is too early to make a decision tonight about whether transportation will be operational in the morning,” says Tucker.

. H& N( o5 t+ r$ Z0 e. R“We also need to see how the weather develops and determine how well municipalities have been able to cope with snow clean up,” adds Tucker.

" U$ B' C( V/ K$ T: T s: h$ PThe Thames Valley District School Board covers a large area from Strathroy in the west, Port Stanley in the south, Drumbo and Princeton to the east and Lucan to the north. This makes a decision to close schools very difficult when the weather systems are so different across the region. We are striving to do what is best for our students and our staff.
